Gas & Oil Boiler Installation

Generally, boilers tend to have a lifespan of around 10 to 15 years, depending on the model and how well it’s been maintained. If your boiler is nearing that age or experiencing frequent problems, it’s time to start thinking about a replacement.

Getting a new boiler fitted is important for several reasons, especially when it comes to energy efficiency, safety, and reliability:

Energy Efficiency

Older boilers tend to be less energy-efficient, meaning they use more fuel to produce the same amount of heat. This leads to higher energy bills. Modern boilers are designed with energy efficiency in mind, often running at 90% efficiency or higher, which can save you money in the long run.

Improved Safety

As boilers age, they can become more prone to faults or even leaks of harmful gases like carbon monoxide. A new boiler ensures you’re operating with the latest safety standards, reducing the risk of potentially dangerous malfunctions.

Reliability

Older boilers are more likely to break down, especially during colder months when you need them the most. A new boiler means fewer unexpected breakdowns, ensuring your home stays warm and comfortable.

By upgrading to a more energy-efficient model, you’re also reducing your carbon emissions. It’s a great way to contribute to a more eco-friendly lifestyle.

Heating Systems

Choosing the right system for me

Combination Boiler house system by WEFIXANY

Combination (Combi) Boiler

A combination/combi is both a high-efficiency instant hot water and a central heating boiler combined within one compact unit. They typically work by taking cold water straight from the mains supply and heating it as you require – eliminating the need for a water cylinder and freeing up space in your property.

Benefits of a Combi:

  • Sealed central heating systems with all components in one unit – neater and compact system
  • Frees space within the property
  • More energy efficient and saves you money
  • Better suited to new builds

Conventional System – Open Vented

A conventional system or open vented is a typical boiler system that has components housed externally from the boiler itself. It has a hot water cylinder which is fed by a cold water expansion tank which is usually in the loft.

Benefits of an open vented system

  • Stored hot water – once the tank runs out of hot water you will need to wait for this to reheat
  • Multiple people in the household can use the hot water at the same time
  • Good option for low water pressure areas
  • Combines with solar water heating system
Conventional System - Sealed WEFIXANY

Conventional System – Sealed

A conventional boiler with a sealed system is almost identical to a standard conventional system without all of the external components. It houses a hot water cylinder, but instead of having the expansion tank in the loft it is replaced with a expansion vessel in the boiler.
